Northern Heritage Maps

Enjoy our fabulous range of maps featuring events and eras in the history of Northern England.

Our Northern England heritage map prints are still amongst our most popular sellers here at Tangled Worm and are packed with information, knowledge and items of interest. Our products include a map of the Collieries of Northumberland, Durham, Tyneside and Wearside showing the names of hundreds of coalmines from across the North East. It shows the early wagonways, the sites of the major pit disasters and the names of the last collieries to close across the region.

Focusing on more distant eras we have maps featuring events and invasions in the Kingdom of Northumbria which is spread across two separately sold maps. The old Kingdom of Northumbria stretched all the way down to the Mersey and Humber and was in existence for hundreds of years and has a fascinating history.

One of these maps covers the the transformation of the Celtic kingdoms into early Northumbria showing some of the early kings and events and the activities of the famous saints. Our other Northumbria map features the Kingdom of Northumbria in the Viking Age again highlighting some of the fascinating events and finds as well as the names of the Anglo-Saxon and Viking kings who ruled the northern regions in those distant times.

We go back to even earlier ages with maps featuring the Roman and Iron Age North and we also do a range of light-hearted northern heritage themed maps including Rude and Peculiar North East Place-Names, Worm legends and a map featuring the hometowns of famous Notable Northerners.

In time we hope to expand our range to cover other regions and places but for now we enjoy sharing our pride and knowledge of our Northern English heritage.
